The Club

The Southampton Spitfires are a group of players from both Southampton and Solent universities that play ice and inline hockey. We have been established for several years now and have successful squads competing in both inline and ice leagues.

We currently have a total of four squads, spread across inline and ice.

The ice squad competes in the British University Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) league in which they compete against teams from universities all across the country. The team started in the 2nd Division and advanced to the 1st Division, achieving a semi-final place in the annual tournament. More information can be found on the ice team page.

For inline hockey we have two squads entered in the GBInline hockey league. GBInline is a more general league, not limited to university teams. We have had great success in inline hockey, winning the annual British Universities Inline Hockey Championships (BUIHC) in 2004/6/7. Finally there is the social squad for those new to the sport. We are always looking for new players so if you would like to be introduced to the sport, come along to one of our open social sessions. They are held in the Old Sports Hall at Southampton university between 12:30 and 14:30 on Saturdays.
