Are you interested in playing a quality sport, having fun and being part of a great team? Do you want to compete at a national level? Do you want to be a part of the Southampton Spitfires?

Since the answer to that question will undoubtedly be a resounding YES then you should get in touch, come along to training sessions and follow us on Facebook!

We are especially seeking dedicated players who have previous hockey experience and would be interested in playing at a competitive level. That’s not to say that we don’t want to new players however! Exposing people to hockey and getting them playing is a big part of what we do and we’re sure you’ll have a lot of fun at our social sessions which are fun, friendly and geared towards letting you practise and improve your hockey or skating skills.

We feel that hockey should be open to everyone. All new players, regardless of skill or experience, can come along to the social sessions where they can get to know people, find out about hockey and we can assess your skill level. We will then be able to decide which training session would suit you best.

Don’t worry if you’re not a student at Southampton University, we don’t restrict out membership. Students from the Southampton Solent or Portsmouth Universities, non-students and anyone else are all welcome! The only requirements for joining are paying the annual club membership fees. If you will be training with us at Southampton University you will need SportRec and AU membership to allow you access to the facilities and to cover your insurance.

Unfortunately, hockey kit can be a bit of a stumbling block for new players. We do have club equipment that you will be able to borrow initially, though skates are not always available. If you get hooked then you can look into getting your own kit. There is a decent shop at Bisley or you can order online from a site like Crazy Kenny’s.
